When I first moved to DC, I used to buy two pairs of shoes a month. But then I found it more and more difficult to find shoes that I didn't have a very similar pair of already. So its actually been quite a while since I bought any new shoes. I checked out Champs because they had a 30% off sale, and although they didn't have any shoes I had been looking for I did find a Tap Out shirt I had wanted for a long time. I went over to Foot Locker where I have not successfully bought a pair of shoes in ages. I almost never like their selection. I did however see a pair of Chuck Taylor All Stars that instantly said "Buy Me". Of course they didn't have my size.
Will the trendsetter
So I walked over to Journey's who do often times have the shoes I likes and they had the Chucks I wanted in the color and size I wanted. Following in the steps of 1950's basketball players, my German cousin Alexander's friend Frank and more recently one William Stanworth, I bought my first pair of Chuck Taylor All Stars.
Me the follower.
Why did it take me 28 years to buy a pair of these American classics? I have no idea, I guess I never got to it. I am happy to add them to my roster.
I spoke to my sister Chrissi on the phone yesterday and though that has nothing to do with this post, I felt she hadn't been getting enough love in my blog lately. She is going through a crazy remodel and wants the world to know that she just got new appliances that she is thrilled about. Whether it's sneakers or a new oven, it's fun to get new things.

Gavin rocked brown lowtops back in the day. so he is actually the trendsetter. just sayin
Aww - Pete, thanks for the love - we hope that wearing your Chuck's reminds you of Will (though his are a size 2). I can't tell . . . what color are yours?
You know if you are struggling for fashion inspiration, how about next month you buy your sisters each a pair of shoes? I'm just sayin'
