If you are a reader of Pete Chat, you know from my last post that I am in Colorado for training. After working, hard during the week we were rewarded with rental cars. I got a sweet little Subaru with all wheel drive and drove up to Loveland Resort. Now these were real mountains. It was cold and snowy, but that did not dampen our spirits whatsoever. This place was huge. There was so much space to ride and the powder was plentiful.
The craziest thing was how high the lift takes you. One of the lifts I went on went over 12,000 ft. To give you an idea, the place where I went snowboarding two weeks ago in VA, had a top elevation of 3,515 feet. My only regret of the day was that I don't have a picture of me going off this jump, where I apparently got big air and landed perfectly. No, I am not Shaun White but I was still pretty pleased with myself.
I got back to the hotel and I was sore. However, the night was only beginning. I headed to a local establishment and got to watch UFC 109 where my good friend Randy Couture firmly established that he is the baddest guy in his mid 40's on the planet.
I am thoroughly enjoying my time in Colorado and understand why Brian Barker, Jim, and John Denver enjoy it so much. The mountains are great, the people are friendly. What more could you ask for really.
The church was less than 2 miles from my hotel. I joined the good people of the local ward for fast and testimony meeting. I'm pretty sure I haven't gone to the same ward in a month.

låter underbart!
jag saknar min subaru impreza... en fyrhjulsdriven toppenbil. speciellt på snöigt underlag :)
sounds fun, but FYT William is coming over tomorrow.
So there!!!
Of course the snowboarding's better in Colorado. We've got the most mountains over 14,000 feet in North America. Peter, you're making me jealous!
i think it's spelled "Luvland"
