No, I don't remember the exact moment where I discovered this but I do remember that when I was a Freshman in college, that my FHE group was having some sort of discussion on what the theme song was for the show Who's The Boss which had gone off the air some seven or eight years previous. I accessed the part of my brain that contains that information, and hummed this tune.
That night it wasn't Tony or Angela who was the boss, it was me.
Yesterday, when I read the weekly email for FHE it announced that the activity for the evening would be a contest of who could identify the most TV theme songs. I knew I had a good shot at this, and showed the appropriate amount of confidence. Now I am pretty sure I am the only one who cared about winning, and for a brief moment I even let my teammates try and help, but I quickly called for the ball and just kept getting them. Some of my favorites were
I would say of the 30 songs that were played I knew 27 of them ( a couple of Nickelodeon shows and Quantum Leap got me).
I was perhaps most proud of getting Walker Texas Ranger, a show I looked forward to watching on Saturday nights.
I ended up getting 18 outright, and proved that I was indeed talented but to this limited degree. Of course it wouldn't be this type of activity without someone making the "complisult" Wow, you watched a lot of TV. I turned to the girl who said it and said, "Yeah, I read a lot of books too." People like this annoy me so much. It's like, oh my life is so much more complete because I don't watch TV. Well what exactly do you do? You don't read more than I do, (few do), are you serving more than me (also doubtful), working harder (well that is a possibility)? Even if you are, guess what, my TV watching and prowess of remembering catchy tunes has put me at the exact same meeting you are at.
The next time you see me, ask me a TV show theme ( I can do a lot of cartoons too) and I'll see if I can dial it up.
ps. Some of my favorites weren't shown.
