In just a little more than nine weeks I'm getting married. Having a fiancee on the opposite coast can sometimes prove to be logistically difficult in wedding preparations. When you couple that fact with my natural inclination to procrastinate on just about everything, and a two month stint in Israel before the big day you may develop a better understanding of my self inflicted challenges. That being said, I am totally pumped. I had a few responsibilities for the wedding but overwhelmingly Shannon is doing most of the planning. As I often tell people, I am more of an idea man, the nuts and bolts of things doesn't really interest me a ton. I think I got my first substantial wedding task done last Saturday when I went to pick out the Tuxedos.
Shannon flew into town on Wednesday and we went right to work. We are taking our engagement photos this afternoon so I needed to find something to wear. Big Ups to Kristine at BR who helped me find the appropriate ensamble. We told her we want to be coordinated but not matching, and I think we found the right balance.
Shannon interviewed at two pre school's and Malibu and not shockingly at all they both loved her. According to Shannon it is pretty different than than what she was used to in Virginia, but she is excited for the new opportunity.
Next on my list of things to do is find us a place to live. We initially wanted to live on campus at Pepperdine but we found out that they were reducing the number of married housing units and thus we were out of luck. Despite Milan's pleas to keep us out of the valley it looks like we will be hanging with the Kardashians in Calabasas. This isn't set in stone but we think we found a great place with a bedroom and a loft for visitors to stay in and for me to study.
Next we went to register. So far we have been to Crate and Barrel which we liked but seemed expensive and that people probably wouldn't buy us stuff from there, and Target which we found a lot of stuff. It is a little hard to pick things out for a home when you don't really have a vision of what that home is going to look.
Now we need to take our engagements and I have to finalize the details for the honeymoon. I know where we are staying the night of the wedding (Hotel Americana for all of you who are familiar with Crystal City. Feel free to come by for a visit.) and just need to figure out the details of getting us to Hawaii.
So there's your latest update.
