En Sanna Dröm (A Dream Come True)

When you are a missionary there is absolutely no dating and no flirting, in fact you should hardly even notice the opposite sex and when you do it's only to teach. You can imagine how hard that might be in a country recognized world wide for having cute girls. Such was my luck as a Swedish missionary.

Well today a dream came true as I was able to escort 27 Swedish girls on a tour of the Capitol Building. You might be asking yourself, Peter how did this happen? Well I'll tell you.

June 6th is the Swedish National Day. They never really had to gain independence so it's not quite such a big deal there, but for Swedes here in America it is a day to celebrate. It was under that pretext that I visited the residence of the Swedish Ambassador in Washington DC yesterday. It was a beautiful place with a huge yard. I introduced myself to the Ambassador in Swedish which was quite fun. He didn't know quite know what to make of this guy who speaks Swedish but is clearly an American. When I first got there I noticed that most people were older and I thought oh great who am I going to talk to. So I went up to a couple of girls who I wasn't sure if they were American or Swedish and asked what they were doing there. They told me they were in a choir who was preforming in an event. Of course they wanted to know why I spoke Swedish. I told them about my mission and some of the places I had lived. One of the girls, her name was Hanna was from Karlskrona, my first area. We actually knew a few of the same people. They asked me what I did and I told them I worked for a congressman and if they wanted to come in for a tour they were welcome to.

They all showed up this morning and I took them on the tour. While we were standing in line they would spontaneously burst into song. I had looked around at the other staffers and thought "Oh your group doesn't sing...hmmm." When we got back to the office they did an awesome medley of Abba tunes. They acoustics in the hallway were amazing and staffers from all of the offices came out and listened. It was awesome.

Now I have 27 more friends to visit the next time I am in Sweden.
