Fat Head for Christmas

Just when I think that I have lost all faith in my fellow man, I have one of those moments where my faith is fully restored. On a very cold Sunday evening I sat in my room watching football, I wasn’t terribly interested in the game; in fact I was still basking in the glow of the 49ers victory earlier that day. I heard a knock at the door and moseyed (I checked the spelling, that is how you spell it) to see who it was. The answer…no one. But there was a box and a note to me. It said:

“Peter, you have been a good boy this year. Good=loyal fan of the Angels,
Lakers, and especially the 49ers this year. Your future wife will enjoy this. -S Claus”

And just what was in the box you might be asking. A supremely awesome Vladimir Guerrero Fat Head. If you don’t know what a Fat Head is, it is a life sized high quality sticker. You may have seen the commercials with Reggie Bush or Ben Rothlisberger. I always thought they were very cool, but on the pricey side, (about 100 dollars) so I didn’t have one. So my mystery benefactor was very cool and got one for me.

I’m not sure precisely why my 49er fandom was of special note, but it may have been a result of my purchase at the ward service auction on Saturday. They offered a throwback Joe Montana replica jersey that I knew I would be buying. It wasn’t like anyone in the crowd was going to beat me out for a 49ers item. It was offered in the silent auction. I put down the opening and then stalked it for the next hour. When it was announced that one minute was left I walked back to the table, at thirty seconds I picked up the pen to make sure no one else could bid. Now my fandom of Steve Young is well known and documented but it may not be as well known that I loved Joe Montana first. I am excited to add his jersey into the rotation.

I must give props to Andrea for helping me put up the Fathead. It is definitely a two person job, because it is legitimately big. She helped me pick the right spot and did an excellent job at making sure Vlad’s upper body matched his lower body. Good job by you.

If the whole press thing doesn't pan out, she could always start a career in wall hanging design.

Mysterious benefactor, thank you so much for my gift and rest assured it is prominently displayed in my room. I will pay this good deed forward.
