I've been thinking about this post for a few days now. I wasn't quite sure how to approach it or if I would even blog about it because it is something sort of personal. But I feel there are many people out there who have been wondering about exactly what happened and how it got to this point. Well here goes.*
My friend Dan and I met up for lunch at Fuddruckers in China Town. I've been there on a number of occasions most notably before I saw the movie Blades of Glory (possibly the last comedy I paid to see in the theater. After I had eaten Dogzilla (it's a hot dog) and polished off a chocolate shake, I had to head back to to the office. As we walked out of the restaurant a man who in my opinion looked like a skinnier version of Clinton Portis approached Dan and I. He started talking to us, explaining why he was wearing a Blackberry T-Shirt,and that he was a street preacher.
Of course my ears perked up when I heard this and I told the man that both Dan and I had been missionaries ourselves at one point. We told him that we had been Mormon Missionaries. He said that he had heard of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was somewhat surprised. He continued to talk to us, but I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. I had to get back to work and not having a pass along card, we thanked him for his words. Throughout our conversation, he encouraged us over and over to "Keep it low". So we said goodbye and he walked away. I turned to Dan and said something to the effect of "I have not the foggiest idea what he was talking about." Dan, too was a bit flummoxed by the gentleman's words. We did however resign ourselves to "keep it low".
Of course when I got back to the office, I changed my G-Chat status to indicate that importance of keeping it low, still having no idea what that meant.
Dan, too was intrigued by the phrase and what it meant. He looked it up on the Urban Dictionary and found this definition:
To avoid drawing attention to yourself, staying out of trouble, by keeping a low profile, avoiding confrontation with people, not driving a car or wearing clothes that draw attention."
Now that I am aware of this new phrase, I remind those around me to "keep it low". I had a job interview the other day, I kept it low. There were a couple of parties I went to, I kept it low. Dan had a meeting at work, my advice to him... you guessed it, "keep it low"
I've been catching up on last seasons Entourage, Turtle has been dating Jaime Lynn Sigler which we all know is impossible. Even Turtle knew this was impossible. He promised her that he would keep it low.
I have and continue to consider a new running feature on my blog called with a weekly post dedicated a person who keeps it low. I'm mulling it over as I haven't been great at Monday Haiku lately.
So my loyal Pete Chat readers, this week when you are wondering how to react to a situation my advice to you is simple... "keep it low".
*You totally thought I was writing about something else.

Keepin' it low.
Other highlights included that he saw, "the love of God in us."
He seemed overly worried about our assortment of ties; suit jackets; and shinny shoes.
I'm sure that Blackberry couldn't be prouder of their new spokesperson - keep it low.
Unfortunately most of the time I do exactly the opposite, but i will definitely try to keep it low in the future.
And yes, I oh most definitely thought you were talking about something else.
