Beach Please!

I will go ahead and assume that all of my Pete Chat readers have appropriately celebrated the worker, and enjoyed a pleasant Labor Day weekend. I went to the Outer Banks, in North Carolina, and spent the weekend , reading, eating, burning, watching football and sitting on the beach and for the most part doing it sans shirt. There was some initial concern about hurricane Earl, but really he amounted to bigger waves and warmer water. Thanks Earl. It was a great weekend and I even took some choice pictures.

I drove down to beach with Wayne, Mary, and Kat. We made a stop at Sonic, and WalMart, got to the beach by about 4:30. I had some work I had to do so that meant the playing didn't begin right away. But once that was done, it was all fun the rest of the time.

I have a little phobia about not understanding fads. The new fad appears to be the "Hunger Games" series of books. It was recommended to me so I bought it at Walmart and plowed through it over two days. It's a kids book. Not terribly original, slightly demented, but not unenjoyable. The author succeeded in getting me to care about the characters, and how the story ended.

The best part of the weekend were the fun people who were at the house. I think there were something like 30 people there. I like this better than Memorial Day Weekend where there is more pressure to be out interacting with every person at the beach. This weekend I mostly stayed around the house, and enjoyed my housemates by the beach.

Earl brought some pretty big waves so for the first day we stayed pretty close to the shore. It was sort of mandatory by the life guards and was followed at varying levels.

Joe had his hater blockers and Sun-In which worked better than even he anticipated. Throughout the weekend I would see Joe and say, "Hey Blondie." Joe assured me that he was in fact having more fun.

Courtney and Andy, came up from Georgia. Because they are married, they are very responsible. They acted as chaperones, and were able to crack down on any funny business that may have been considered. I would like the record to reflect that I was in fact a perfect gentleman throughout the weekend. I did however make fun of Canada, which resulted in my wookie getting wet. It happens.

So much of the credit goes to Jenny and Kathy. They organized the weekend and all I did was show up. Good job by you J Core. Kyle dug a pit and tried to capture ladies in it. Turns out all he needed to do was lie down for a nap and the ladies would flock to him. No pit needed.

Although I didn't take any pictures, one of the highlights of the weekend was watching the Cougars beat UW. The most committed Cougar fans (Joe, Chad, Nick, Julie and myself) went to watch the game. My dad called during the game to ask where I was watching it. I told him that I was watching it at Hooters with nine returned missionaries and that my eyes were focused completely and utterly on the tv.
I had so much fun at the beach. I am not sure if it was the warm water, the bright sun, or the fact that I had to wear a shirt as little as possible but I had no choice but to jump for joy. For the first few days I managed very well to avoid getting sunburned. I failed pretty miserably on Monday. My chest was bright red. A small price to pay for such a choice weekend.

Stephanie specifically asked me if this picture would be on Pete Chat. I asked her, if she wanted it to be. She enthusiastically said yes. This is apparently Stephanie's "good side". Any side that shows my awesomely long torso is my good side. I am not unaware that I am skinny. But seeing these pictures makes me think, it really would not hurt for me to eat a little (or a lot ) more.

I was happy to offer my skin cancer saving services to one Heather Hickson. She is a big Texas Rangers fan, and since the Angels stink this year, and Vlad is among the reasons the rangers are doing well, my only measure of revenge is publishing a picture of Heather wearing my Angels hat. Trust me, you will never see a picture of me wearing a Rangers hat.

I wanted to get a picture of the whole group but that never materialized. Instead we took a picture in Kyle's bedroom, with a number of us. Even duck baby Sheldon made it in.

It was a fantastic weekend, a weekend that even the Sultan of Brunei, riding Haley's Comet whilst Gerald Ford looked on would be jealous of. (Theses were all answers I had for Trivial Pursuit, which I may have impressed and surprised a few people with.) This is something that I would be happy to make a yearly tradition.

Beach Plz!

I am so glad you were there! I am also glad that so many key elements of the weekend were captured in the "Kyles Bedroom Picture". Please note the stain remover. Haha.

A great summary of a perfect weekend. Hearing you say you could make it an annual tradition makes me feel a little better that I've spent my last 5 labor days in the outer banks.
I'm looking forward to a trivial pursuit off between you and Chad Hill.

I wish we had captured the moment where you assisted my at-bat stance. Although I am just honored to have made it on Pete Chat.

Beach plzzzz.

Ahh, love the OBX.

Peter - Mom would be horrified by your skinniness. Please eat - and eat a lot every day. Then eat some more.
