- The expression "Kid in a candy shop". This bugs me because I can't recall ever hearing a kid get excited for a candy shop since the days of the Copper Kettle (Whittier reference) or have I seen a child go bananas for Sees Candy or The Sweet Factory. I think we all need to work on a new expression for unbridled excitement. I will take your suggestions.
- Yesterday I had lunch with Joe and Bill and Costco. I went for the hot dog and drink along with a berry sundae. It was delicious but I was exhausted from staying up late. Every time I eat at Costco I check to see what the people serving the food are wearing. There was a time when they would be wearing medical scrubs. I thought to myself, if I had gone through the trouble of being trained in the medical profession, then I had earned my scrubs. I understand that there is some practicality in wearing scrubs in an environment where you might get dirty. My suggestion is to wear aprons like my dad did at the Butcher Shop.
- In my effort to become self actualized I realize that I may have a tendency to be overly critical of others. Instead of appreciating the efforts of others, I wonder why they didn't do it better, or funnier etc. It is easy to stand on the sidelines and judge the efforts of others instead of doing it yourself. Over the last few weeks and continuing in the future I'll have the opportunity to show what my efforts can accomplish. It remains to be seen if I will be less critical, either I will have a softer heart or feel more justified in my criticism.
- Last week I went to the barber to get my haircut. I showed him a picture of what I wanted. He did that and asked me if I wanted to go shorter. I said yes. I ended up getting my summer haircut very late in the summer. I am working on my approximation of a beard thing. I am going to keep it through Labor day.
Is it weird that I am wearing a T-Shirt that I know my nephew Gavin would be really excited about? He's going to be in Kindergarten, I'm going to be 30.
- My seersucker suit made its last appearance at church for the summer. After four summers in the Confederacy (NoVA anyway) I bought one. I get a lot of compliments on it, which I of course enjoy. Along with the seersucker, my white shoes, and other summer stuff will be put to the back of the closet and I'll bring out my fall stuff in the next few days.
- It's Labor day this weekend to Duck Beach. There may be a hurricane, but I look forward to making my triumphant return. I haven't been since Thanksgiving 2007.

I like that picture of you in your Spiderman shirt. I think if you put on an oversized hat, we could go back to Knott's and pretend you are 12 again!
No offense, but Gav looks a lot better. Love that kid.
Hi, your cousin Nicole and I were just stopping by your blog. Now we're jamming out to George Harrison, thanks! :) BTW, love the spidey costume. AWESOME!
