Friday Night Lights and An Evening on the Farm

I don't have a lot of regrets, to me that seems like a pretty good way to live your life. That being said looking back I really wish I had played high school football. I love football, but at the time I didn't want to give up my summers to condition so I played a spring sport instead.

Regardless of the fact that I didn't play, I was a big supporter of the La Serna Lancer Football team, and loved to go to the games. As I recall it was the social event of the week during the fall. You went to the games, sat with your friends (or often times your dad) and saw the Del Rio League decided on the grid iron. I even blogged about the last time I went to a La Serna game.

This past Friday Night, a group of 20 somethings invaded Wakefield High School to watch some High School Football, and it was a blast. Wakefield is apparently the High School that people in my neighborhood attend. The game was sparsely attended, despite the fact that Wakefield won the game quite handily. I took a few pictures.

I can only imagine what kind of Quarterback I would be today if I had had actual training in the position when I was younger. I mean I'm awesome now. I guess it is just one of those what if's I have to live with.*

I would say that our little group made up a not insignificant amount of the total non student population of those watching the game.

After the game we headed to Cici's for some all you can eat pizza. It was choice. Although there was no Macaroni pizza. On the way home there was another German Automobile that wanted to race a little. Even when my shoe slipped off the pedal I showed that the Millennium Falcon was the fastest that night. The I realized I didn't want another ticket so I slowed it down.

On Saturday, Scott, Heather, Kami and I drove out to the country for a farm to table dinner. Mary made the arrangements and I was interested to see what offerings they would have. While we waited for the rest of our party to join us, we took a little tour of the farm.

I really don't know what to write about this. There were different fruits and vegetables growing and I made sure and sampled some raspberries. Because October is the month of sweaters (at least it was supposed to be until the recent heat wave) I thought Heather should document the sweater I was wearing.

The dinner was pretty delicious. It offered many courses all off which I enjoyed thoroughly. I was so hungry that I was eating my food and some of my fellow diners' as well. They had some dill soaked green beans that were particularly delicious as well. During the dinner we were serenaded by a guitar player with the alt rock hits of the 90's. Sublime, RHCP, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana as well as many others made the evening particularly enjoyable. I didn't watch the Cougar game, I just monitored it on my phone. They finally got win number two of the season which was a big relief.

A pleasant weekend all around.

*Rest assured this is sarcasm.

The first thing I do when I walk into Cici's is demand that they immediately put a mac n' cheese pizza in the oven. Then I find a seat where I have a clear view of the buffet so that I will get at least half of it when it's ready.

Where was this farm-to-table 90's alternative dinner?

You lost. I'm sorry. But you lost the race and that is that.
