I'm Not The Only One

I can say unequivocally that I never thought that I would compare myself to Kim Kardashian. From the outside she is a reality TV star known best for her ample derrière. I am a humble servant of the federal government with no booty to speak of. And yet there are certain commonalities between the two of us. We both grew up in Los Angeles, we both have an interest in professional sports. Well after thinking more about it we don't really have anything in common. And yet as was walking through the grocery store I was drawn to the current issue of People Magazine with Kim on the cover. It turns out that Kim and I having something major in common.

I did a double take when I saw the cover, and had a number of reactions. 1. Tell me about it. 2. No kidding. 3 Didn't we all. I didn't even notice the sub heading Kim Kardashian at 30. So Kim and I have similar anxiety about being 30 and not married. I haven't read the article but I am sure that she shares considerable insight about what it is like to be 30 and unmarried.

Last night at dinner group Amber was reading us a few selected passages from President Bush's biography (which has a shout out to Staci and Mike in it) and it talked about how President Bush met Laura at a BBQ in July, was engaged by September and married in November. I don't remember the exact quote but something to the effect that GWB was 30 and he knew it was time to settle down. I appreciated this anecdote.

So Kim, when you figure out what your mistakes in love were, will you let me know? I don't want to make the same ones.
