The Result of Righteous Living

II must say that I had a great weekend. There were many highlights that included:

  • The Edison High School production of Beauty and The Beast
  • Dinner at Macaroni Grill
  • Super competitive and super well played flag football game
  • Cougars slaughtering CSU 49-10.
  • Dominance at the Trivia Game at Dave and Busters
  • Crashing the Animae festival
  • 49ers winning a game in overtime.
All of these things added up to a tremendous weekend. But really the greatest part of it all was the arrival of sweet baby girl Olave. She doesn't have a name quite yet, but she will soon.

You may remember Nikki and David from my post about their wedding. I was honored to be a groomsman and I take that responsibility very seriously. So for the last few weeks I have anxiously been awaiting the arrival. As I was getting ready for the weekly football game David texted me to let me know that the baby may be on the way. Throughout the day David kept me up to date on the current situation. And on more than one occasion I gave a fist pump or a shout when there was a development. It was all very exciting. Then at around 10:00 PM I got the message that the baby had arrived.

All day today I was excited to go and see the baby. So the honorary Uncles made the trip to the hospital to see the baby.

We all took turns holding her and she was a delight. She didn't cry she just slept and was an absolute pleasure.
I'm a total softy for this kind of stuff. Everyone knows that the apple of my eye are my nieces and nephews, and I love being Uncle Peter. I have never been around when any of them were born. I missed Haydan by two days when I left for college, Bronte was born while I was in Sweden, Savannah, was in New York. Gavin came a bit early so I had my college graduation before I could get home, and Kate and Will were in Texas. I think this is the first time I had been around a new born. As I was brushing my teeth this morning I was thinking about this precious new baby, and it got ever so dusty in the room.

Nikki and David were champs. They told us all about the birth and what it was like. I was happy to be the first person to take a family picture. Everyone is doing very well, but need sleep.

I don't know what I did to deserve such a great weekend, but I'll take it.
