Men Will Be Men

I know there are a number of ladies who read Pete Chat. At times I like to delve into the male psyche to help the ladies understand how men think and what they think about. I have noticed recently that any time I make a broad sweeping generalization about the opposite gender I am quickly reprimanded for it. So for this post I will stick with my own gender. Ladies do you know something that guys love to talk about? Match ups. We love to discuss who would win head to head, Montana or Brady. Is Kobe better than Jordan (not yet but he will be) and so forth. We love this stuff and can argue forever about it and never come to a conclusion. We also love ideas like who wins in a fight an Orca or a Great White, a liger or a Tigon. You know that sort of stuff. Heck they even have a television show on Spike dedicated to hypothetical matchups between history's greatest warriors.

So last night my roommates and I were watching the Lakers game and Joe asked me an important question who would win in a fight. Luke Skywalker with his lightsaber or Cpt. Moroni with the Sword of Laban. My thoughts...it would be closer than you think. This quickly led to discussion of the greatest hypothetical battle in history. A eight team battle to end all battles, or as I quickly dubbed it...OCTOGEDON. Although we didn't hammer out the rules or the format, we all agreed that it would no doubt be epic. It was not enough to talk about it, I needed to visualize it.

Without further ado I give you the teams.

Team Dorsch: Peter + Wolverine+ Iron Man

Team Johnston: Joe + Luke Skywalker (with ROTJ Lightsaber) + Chewie (with Bowcaster)

Team Nelson: Dan Nelson + Capt. Moroni (with Sword of Laban) + Nephi (with Steel Bow)

Team Lewis: Sergio + Teddy Roosevelt+Andrew Jackson

Team Jennejohn: Dan +Mike Tyson (From Punch Out) + Rocky Balboa

Team Inouye: Scott + Mr. Miyagi + Master Splinter

Team Dalebout: Billy +Rick Soulier+ Alex Boye

Team Morley: Ryan + Matthew P. Waldrip + President Bill Nixon (w/ iPad not shown)

Who will win this epic battle? Obviously I like my chances, but I have some bias. Each teams has its advantages from my will to win and Wolverine's claws and Iron Man's armor to Mr. Miyagi's mastery of martial arts, or Rocky's ability to defeat communism.

It is certain that it will be thoroughly discussed, and it is unlikely that a clear winner will be crowned .

I literally spent hours doing this post. (Shakes head)

Facebook left me puzzled, so I'm glad you explained all this. Where oh where did you find that picture of President Nixon? Did you send him your blog?

Pretty clever. I'm sure if I had my own team you guys would be toast!

It would definitely come down to team Dorsch and team Johnston. I'm just not sure if a light saber can go through adamantium.

Not surprised you went with Wolverine, I remember a certain yearbook post of someone that said he likes Wolverine so much that sometimes he even pretends that he is Wolverine. This guy was WAY into X-men!

Wait, wait, wait. I know your friend Billy! His Dad was one of my professors in London. Of course he was like 12 years old then, but I love me some Daleabouts.

team dalebout might not win the fighting, but soulier is good at birding and poetry, and boye is good at rap and beats.

and...hi jenn!
