Good Karma and Happy Birthday Dad!

My best friend growing up Robert The Scottish City of Glasgow

For the second time in my life, I have had a wallet returned to me. Man, was I excited when Bus Operator Robert Glasgow (who I learned goes by the nickname PeeWee) called my office yesterday afternoon to tell me that he had found my wallet. Sure it is slightly inconvenient that I cancelled my credit cards but the fact that I don’t have to worry about getting a new CA driver’s license more than makes up for that. Apparently Robert Glasgow found my wallet, saw my business cards and called my office. Not only that he told me I could pick up my wallet at the bus depot on the corner of S. Glebe and Jefferson Davis HWY only three blocks from my house. I walked over and picked it up. Thank you Robert Glasgow, enjoy Best Buy!

Dad and Kitty Kate

Today is my dad's birthday. I allready called him this morning (6:00 am PST) and sang him "Happy Birthday". Here's a few things about my dad.

  • He's an investment wiz. He is incredible at finding obscure financial institutions that always seem to make money. Whenever the Stock Market has a good day I call him and ask for a loan. He turns me down. I have no collaterall.
  • He loves being a grandpa. We talk on the phone a few times a week and he informs about all the things the kids are doing.
  • He used to have a butcher shop. Although he retired about 20 years ago he retained all his knowledge of the trade. If ever I have a question about buying some steak or how to cook a turkey I can call my dad for advice.
  • He's really tan. I have always been jealous that he and Jenn get really tan while the rest of the family burns.
  • He speaks English with almost no accent. Occasionally when my sisters and I were kids we would get him fired up and a little German accent would sneak out.
  • My dad has never typed or used a computer as far as I know. (My sister will show him this post)
  • After doing a Presidential Candidate Quiz he got Joe Biden. Still haven't figured out exactly what that means.
  • Sometimes I will call and ask "Where have you been?" He'll respond with "I have things to do, I don't have time to waste talking to you." It's very funny because really he has about as much "free time" as one can have.
  • He's is amazingly strong and I love him so much.

Happy Birthday Dad!

I've only lost my wallet once, and it was returned to me. It happend just after selling books back to the BYU bookstore, so I had a few hundred dollars cash. All of the money and eveything else was returned. I was happy. It helped confirm to me that most people do the right thing, even when nobody's looking.

Props to Robert Glassgow - more evidence that you need to be a little more aware of your surroundings. Keep you head on a swivel if you will.

I laughed outloud in my office when I re-read the Joe Biden line. Yes, I know about this story and for some reason it warms my heart regardless of the fact I have never met your Father or Joe Biden.

A quote if I may:

"What you need are not the short, frenzied outbursts of emotion but the steady and tranquil dedication of a lifetime"

Dude, the First National Bank of Dorsch is run like a tight ship. They can't be messing around with riff-raff like you, Peter.

Pete- that is a cute picture, will you email it to me?

Good news about the wallet. Pay it forward my friend - it all comes back to you.
